Zygomatic Implants

A graftless solution for patients with severe upper-jaw bone loss.

For some patients, traditional implants or standard All-on-4 are not possible due to extensive bone loss in the upper jaw.

Zygomatic implants provide a reliable alternative by anchoring into the cheekbone (zygoma), a naturally dense and stable bone structure that remains strong even when the jawbone has deteriorated.

This approach allows patients with severe bone loss to receive fixed full-arch teeth without bone grafting, sinus lifts, or prolonged staging.

At The Point Dental, we specialise in complex full-arch rehabilitation, including zygomatic implant solutions, using advanced digital planning, refined surgical techniques, and optional on-site General Anaesthesia (GA) for comfort and safety.

Why Standard Implants Can't Anchor

When teeth have been missing for many years or when long-term gum disease has caused ongoing deterioration, the upper jawbone can lose height, width, and density.

At a certain point of resorption, even All-on-4 implants have nowhere stable to anchor. Both traditional implants and All-on-4 require a minimum amount of healthy bone. When the bone becomes too thin or too soft, implants cannot be placed predictably. Even with grafting.

Why Patients Hear “You’re Not Suitable”

This is why many patients are told they need bone grafting or sinus lifts, or that implants are not an option at all.

How Zygomatic Implants Solve This

Zygomatic implants bypass the weakened upper jaw entirely by anchoring into the cheekbone. A dense, stable foundation that remains strong even in advanced resorption.

A well-planned implant doesn’t just restore the tooth, it also protects the surrounding bone, helping prevent collapse or shrinkage over time.

What Are Zygomatic implants

Instead of relying on weakened jawbone, they anchor into the zygoma (cheekbone), a stronger, denser bone that provides excellent long-term support. Because the cheekbone remains stable even in advanced bone loss, zygomatic implants allow us to avoid bone grafting completely.

This strong anchorage often makes it possible to complete the full-arch transformation within the same 3-day timeframe as All-on-4, even for patients with extreme bone loss.

You may be suitable for zygomatic implants if you:

Experience severe bone loss in the upper jaw

Have been advised that traditional implants aren’t possible

Prefer a graftless option without sinus lifts

Have long-standing missing teeth or failed implant attempts

Struggle with denture movement or poor stability

Seek a fixed, long-term full-arch solution despite limited bone

Although the treatment may sound extensive, many patients describe the experience as surprisingly manageable with discomfort levels similar to standard All-on-4 treatment. With careful planning, refined technique, and the option of GA, the procedure is calm, controlled, and often easier than expected.

Process

A More Honest Look at Implant Dentistry

Dental implants shouldn’t be rushed. The truth is: the planning phase matters just as much as the surgery.

Every successful implant relies on three things: the skill behind the surgery, the detail in the planning, and the craftsmanship of the final restoration. At The Point Dental, this is where we place our focus.

The Skill of the Surgeon

Angles, depth, bone density and gum design all matter. An experienced surgeon works with your anatomy to choose the right implant position and avoid unnecessary procedures. That experience is what creates results that last decades.

The Quality of the Planning

Implants are built on precision. Before surgery, we take the time to understand bone quality, bite analysis, aesthetic harmony and predictability through graftless planning.

The Artistry of the Lab

Your final teeth are crafted, not just made. Shade, translucency, proportions and bite are refined by technicians who understand how a natural smile should look and feel. It's this blend of surgical skill, planning and craftsmanship that creates a result that feels real, looks natural and lasts.

A well-planned implant doesn’t just restore the tooth, it also protects the surrounding bone, helping prevent collapse or shrinkage over time.

Cost

Zygomatic implant treatment generally involves four implants, similar to standard All-on-4. Because grafting is not required, the overall cost is often comparable to, and sometimes even lower than, traditional full-arch methods that rely on 6–8 implants per jaw and additional bone grafting procedures.
